There were five different goalscorers as Baffins bounced back to secure an emphatic 8-0 victory at Christchurch.

Danny Thompson made two changes from the side that faced AFC Portchester seven days prior, as Dillon North and Danny Burroughs both started.

And it was BURROUGHS that opened the scoring, as Harvey Wellham’s deep cross found North at the far post. The latter’s cross was only cleared to the edge of the box by the hosts, allowing Burroughs to fire home a first-time volley.

Shortly after, Wellham was involved again, splitting the Christchurch defence and freeing Kelvin Robinson in behind. The forward was too wide for a strike at goal, so opted for a cross which was headed clear by Barton.

Tyrhys Lukonyomoi had his first chance of the encounter after 14 minutes during an high-tempo opening in Dorset, but the attacker’s lob agonisingly hit the post and was hacked clear.

A frantic started continued as Lukonyomoi was involved again, this time seeing his effort parried, before North took a touch prior to sending his strike just wide.

Baffins finally had a deserved second goal as Robinson surged down the right wing before letting fly, his strike was parried – but only as far as NORTH who couldn’t miss from just a couple of yards out.

And that lead was extended just before the break as the ball dropped for WELLHAM in the box, who poked the ball home via a deflection from a defender.

Rovers began the second half in the same fashion they finished the first as Robinson’s effort was lifted just over the bar after Wellham’s cross.

And it was almost made four on 53 minutes as Sanders flicked the ball just wide of the far post, connecting to Casey Bartlett-Scott’s whipped free-kick.

Hardcastle was forced to make a save for the first time in the clash shortly after, easily claiming Simpson’s strike from just outside the box.

Walster was forced off with a head injury on the hour mark and replaced by Gibson before Hardcastle made another save from a free-kick.

Just five minutes later Baffins struck for a fifth time as Bartlett-Scott whipped in an inch-perfect corner, which was met by BURROUGHS who headed home.

And just over 60 seconds after the restart, Rovers scored five at Hurn Bridge for the second successive campaign. LUKONYOMOI got himself on the scoresheet, bursting through the home defence and slotting under Butler.

The relentless performance continued as Bartlett-Scott’s quality from another corner earned him another assist, this time for LUKONYOMOI who secured his brace, heading into the net from close-range.

There was still time for more goals, though, as ROBINSON struck twice as the Christchurch legs tired. First, the forward surged into the box and converted with a powerful effort near post, then the victory was rounded off with Robinson slotting home under the goalkeeper.

Portsmouth loanee Jack Fox was in the right place at the right time in stoppage time, clearing off the line to ensure the clean sheet remained in-tact.
