It’s the first-ever competitive meeting between the two Portsea Island clubs.

And the tie was thrown up due to an administration error with Gosport Borough not included in the intial draw, ensuring a re-draw would be needed.

A date with Portsmouth’s youngsters has become an annual occurance in PO3, most recently playing out a goalless draw in pre-season. This time, the action is competitive and Pompey will be aiming to progress in another competition after, like Baffins, they exited the Hampshire Cup last week.

Portsmouth struck a last-gasp equaliser courtsey of Harry Clout at Wessex Division One side Folland Sports, setting up the lottery of penalties at Arrow Arena.

Connor May’s spot-kick was saved as Follands converted all five penalties to knock Portsmouth out of the competition.

Away from cup action, Sam Hudson’s side have enjoyed a strong start to their Youth Alliance League South-West Division, sitting second in the standings behind Plymouth Argyle - who struck two late goals to win at Furze Lane on Saturday, to extend their lead. Portsmouth’s youngsters were bolstered with the addition of the experienced ex-Pompey midfielder Michael Doyle, who returned to Fratton Park, joining their coaching staff over the summer.

And the League One club have trusted Danny Thompson to assist in the development of several of their academy players in recent times. This term, Jack Fox and Maxwell Hurst have spent time with Baffins, taking to the field in men’s football for the first time.

Tickets can be bought in advance here, whilst on-the-day sales are still available. A matchday programme will be available to purchase on the turnstiles for just £2.
