Charlie Oakwell scores from the penalty spot as Baffins' record FA Cup run comes to an end.

Baffins were made to rue missed opportunities as the club’s record FA Cup run came to an end to Southern League Winchester City on Friday evening.

The visitors survived an early onslaught from Rovers, which saw Jason Parish see his effort smash off the post.

Max Smith broke the deadlock midway through the half, surging into the box and firing home after a free-kick. Silvano Obeng doubled the visitors’ lead on 38 minutes as he fired home from inside the box.

Baffins started the second half the better of the two sides, but again couldn’t find a way back into the tie.

On the hour mark, Winchester City scored a third goal as a loose pass in the penalty area was picked up by Henry Brooks who converted. A fourth goal was scored by Dan Nield before Charlie Oakwell netted a consolation goal from the penalty spot.

Brooks’ effort in the ninth minute of stoppage time took an unfortunate deflection and was turned in by a Rovers defender.
